Simple Living For Inner Peace
A Simple Lifestyle
Simple living is becoming more and more valued and desired. There is so much going on in the world, in our own lives, that we are craving peace. This comes from having a simple, uncluttered, stress-free lifestyle.
Are you always thinking, analyzing, replaying conversations over in your mind? Mental chatter is a form of busy-ness that can leave you feeling overwhemled.
For you to be at peace, your mind must be at peace. More people are worried than at peace. If this is you, then by the
Laws of the Universe,
this will be your experience - worried.
By putting your attention on the past or the future robs you of the only thing you have .. the present moment. The present moment is the only place for you to find peace and happiness.
Silence The Fear-Mongers
For me, a big step in simple living was to turn the television off. I also stopped reading newspapers and "gossip" style magazines. How much time do you spend every day listening to all of the tragic things that are happening in the world? Someone once said to me, "but it's good to be aware of what's happening". If you are aware of it, that is where your attention is, and that becomes your reality. Where you direct your attention, that is where life force goes and gives more power to it.
Even if you don't approve of what's happening, by constantly tuning in, you're still feeding into it.
The main message of the media advertisements is, that without all of the new products that are appearing on the marketplace everyday, your life will not be complete, and you will not be good enough. Hmm, doesn't encourage simple living, and I think this is a message we can do without.
Make The Space For Simplicity
It was during a very lean financial time that lasted for three years that I began to
de-clutter
my home intensively. The more space that was created, the more "things" and blessings turned up in my life. My income did not match our lifestyle. Somehow, we always had what we needed, and more.
By making space, that is letting go of things we didnt value, we opened up the space for the Universe to bring those things we did need and value.
Even now that our circumstances have changed, we appreciate every thing we have.
If we don't value it, we get rid of it.
Maybe someone else can enjoy it.
We don't drain our energy on things that are of no value .. to us anyway.
Of course we love nice things, but if we don't something, we know that our way of life is still very good.
We have learned to see the value and beauty in simple things.
Some time ago I decided to intentionally send love to everything in my home. I told my stove, I love you. I told my towels, I love you. I didn't go into any detail, but if you think you would struggle with this idea, initially justifying it would be fine. For example, with the stove, I love you, thank you for always being there, providing the heat to cook my food in such a convenient way. My towels, I love you, thank you for always being fluffly and dry and absorbing the water from my body. It wasn't long before I felt like a very rich person. I had so many valuable things in my home. Suddenly, eveything in my home starting to .. almost glisten, as if the sun were shining on it.
I love my home, I love being in the space and it nurtures me. But I know, that if we have to move from this home, that is ok, as I am not attached to it, and do not need it to feel love.
Gratitude and Appreciation
Simple living does not mean going without, but rather, enjoying, loving and appreciation what you have. Love what you have and you will soon see the blessing in that.
Since living this wonderful lifestyle, I have so much more time for doing the things that I really love.
I love simple living. It frees me up to go for walks, sit in the early morning sunshine, and love the space that I'm in.
I am blessed!
