An invocation prayer is being very clear on what it is that you want. As with all prayers, you do not ask for or plead to the Universe for what you want.
We begin by knowing what we want and aligning our vibration with the end result. When reciting an invocation prayer, say it with a feeling in your heart that you are ready to allow yourself to receive what you are asking for.
This powerful Invocation, written in 1945 by Alice Bailey, conveys a simple message that anyone of any belief or faith can understand and relate to.

From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.
From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.
From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men -
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.
From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power
restore the Plan on Earth.
This is an updated version of the invocation prayer. This wording resonates more with the consciousness of the 21st century.

The adapted words - man (a sanskrit word for one who thinks) and Christ (Divine Consciousness) have caused misunderstanding for many people causing the need to re-write a few of the words.
Christ's return to Earth is not a physical return, but rather a return of the consciousness of the teachings of Christ.
