Did you ever think that there might be another way? In 1990 I sought relief from an alternative therapist for ongoing pain in my shoulders. He would always chat first, unbeknown to me to see if he could unveil the "cause" of my pain. He asked me "Did you ever think that there might be another way?" Another way for what, I asked. For living! He replied. I didn't understand. Life was miserable and painful, a debilitating struggle. I had stood at the window of my home before, looking out, seeing how "other people" lived, knowing in my heart that there had to be a better way for me too.
I was too unaware, to understand that a prayer had just been answered, an angel had crossed my path.
This was my introduction to "a better way", but because I was living so unaware, I missed what happened in that moment. Introduction to surrendering the burden ... This was my introduction to understanding that the burden and pain I carried on my shoulders was placed there by none other than myself. My accupuncturist told me of an inspirational book he had read. One he thought I might enjoy reading as well. The only problem was, I had to send overseas and wait eight weeks to get a copy of it. That was 1990. How things have changed. Inspirational books regularly hold space in the top 10 bestsellers list. And no wonder with the information that is shared. These inspirational books reveal the amazing truth - how to live a life of love, how to BE love. The themes may sound similar, but the story is always told in a different way, with the flavour of the experience of an enlightened teacher. Inspire, Uplift, Inform ... They inspire, uplift, inform, and give you back to yourself. The world is blessed by these leaders who offer a way that we can re-unite in love, and acknowledge the truth of our existence. The following books I credit with making an impact on my life. So much so that I have gone from a life of misery and pain - a debilitating struggle for survival - to happily, joyfully, peacefully living a fulfilling life, on purpose, in love.
